Session: Grappling / No-Gi
🔄 Butterfly Hook Sweep - Shoulder Crunch Variation
Today, we worked on another variation of the sweep using one butterfly hook from the shoulder crunch position.
🔹 Key Details:
- If the opponent bases out, swoop the arm to take advantage of their structure.
- If they don’t base, cup their arm to their leg and execute the sweep.
- An additional option is to push their head down to break their balance, making the sweep easier.
💡 Takeaway: Use their reactions against them—whether they post or stay tight, there's always a way to off-balance and sweep.
Solid session! Keep refining the details and chaining attacks together. 🔥

Session: Gi / Technique (1.5 hours)
🔄 Takedown to Bow and Arrow Choke
Today's focus was on a takedown where we control the arm with the sleeve grip and the inner collar on the same side using the cross arm. The execution involved:
🔹 Key Details: - Pulling grip and falling back to off-balance the opponent, forcing them to post on both hands. - Getting halfway onto their back and rolling through. - Securing the leg while setting up the bow and arrow choke. - Final adjustment: Keeping tension on the collar grip and extending the leg for maximum control and leverage.
💡 Takeaway: This sequence smoothly combines a takedown with a strong finishing option, making it efficient for both points and submission. Refining the grips and transition will be key to making it work fluidly in live rolls.

Session: Open Mat
Had several solid rolls with a black belt, which went surprisingly well. Managed to apply and defend certain techniques effectively.
🔹 Key Takeaways: - Black Belt Rolls: Great testing ground for pressure and timing. Felt some progress in positional awareness. - Purple Belt Flow Roll: A smooth session, good for refining transitions and testing positional control without full resistance. - General Focus: Checking specific positions and adjusting details in live movement.
💡 Takeaway: Open mat was productive—rolling with different levels helped refine reactions and highlight areas to improve. Flow rolling, especially, is a great tool to polish techniques in a controlled setting.
Let me know if you want any refinements! 🔥
