What gear and food do you bring to the mat?
It seems like something small, but I noticed in the past years that especially food is important. Giving your body the right nutrients before and post training can be crucial in recovery. Of course, eating healthy foods is essential for everyone, however training multiple times a week demands more of the body than just regular exercise. Everyone reading and practicing BJJ will or will very soon understand how the body reacts to the mats, physicial contact, etc.
Food
- Whey protein shakes
- Huel / Jimmy Joy
- Red meat
- Vegetables / Fruits
- Nuts
Gear
- Knee Pads (helps me mitigate some of the falling dmg)
- Rashguards:
- Tatami: although they are a bit more expensive, I never had to replace them. The quality of the fabric is perfect. The art stays and even though they are always soaked in sweat, they are always fresh after a good wash (30c)
- Gi
- Spats for No-Gi (not necessary but I prefer them)
- Mouth piece for sparring
- Tape for "bruised" fingers
Extra
- Gensing carrot
- Comfrey oil
- CBD oil
- Wound spray
- Alchohol 80%> for desinfection
- Bandages for wounds (jodium to desinfect post training)
- Water proof bandages in case you need to train
